Building an Embassy

This unique project has emerged from the enthusiasm of a committed group of Australians to assist the people of one of our poorest neighbouring nations.

Timor-Leste has no chance of financing and building even the simplest Embassy in the foreseeable future. But Australians can.

We can harness the will and resources and build this symbol of independence for Timor-Leste. We can then make the Embassy a national gift to the Timor-Leste people from the people of Australia . The Rotary Club of Melbourne and Leadership Victoria have joined forces and are establishing a collaboration of individuals, corporations, government and the philanthropic section in Australia with Timor-Leste leaders and groups in Timor-Leste and Australia. You can help too.

When completed in 2007, the Timor-Leste Embassy in Canberra will be an historic landmark and a demonstration of the extraordinary commitment of the Australian people and our willingness to walk alongside the Timor-Leste people as they rebuild their nation.
